When i had my first outbreak. i didnt have any symptoms or warning that it was coming, it popped up. my doctor just kinda blandly said i was having a herpe outbreak and swabbed me but they have yet told me my results should i get re-tested?

Ask your physician to run a IgM and IgG test for the herpes antibody. Herpes I/II when not active is located internal to the cell membrane, but past infections will be detectable as antibody present in the circulating bloodstream.
