I was prescribed flexiril, prednisone and aleve for a slipped disc. never taken a muscle relaxer before & i suffer from anxiety disorder. is this safe to take? side effects? all meds ok to take together? nervous to take a muscle relaxer?

Muscle relaxant can be taken for patient with anxiety disorder. This medication has a lot of adverse effects but tolerable. If you are concerned about Flexeril, taking Prednisone and Aleve is enough by my experience. Take Aleve with full stomach and watch your stomach symptoms when taking these 2 drugs.

Agree with Dr Le, and would be skeptical that Flexeril will do much more than make you drowsy, and mildly sedated. Perhaps could avoid the muscle relaxant, and get proactive by participating in physical therapy. Avoid bed rest and use exercise and stretching. Many disc problems resolve spontaneously over time, if handled conservatively.
