Hard part of a colonoscopy is the prep the day/night before;drinking lots of fluids with a medication that causes the person to have many stools so the intestinal tract is clear of stool so doctor can see the intestinal walls clearly.Procedure is easy, quick & painless.Patient is given medication to put them to sleep and then it's over when they wake up after.Need a ride home b/c of med sedation.

Will receive (is probably taking now) an oral liquid to clean out bowel - probably some cramps or diarrhea. Arrives at center, changes into procedure gown (open in the back). IV is started, placed in wheelchair, you say good-bye. Goes into room, lays down on gurney, given a light sedative, goes to sleep. Dr. inserts instrument into rectum, looks in colon, takes it out. Wakes up, back to you 45 m
