The morning after pill contains the hormone levonorgestrel , a progestin, which can prevent ovulation, block fertilization or keep a fertilized egg from implanting in the uterus. Side effects include bleeding between periods/heavier menstrual bleeding, vaginal discharge, breast tenderness, dizziness, fatigue, abdominal cramps, or nausea. These are normal effects of hormones.
