A member asked:

Im on time with my combined birth control. am i able to start my combined birth control pill 7 hours early than usual on the day i take them or will that reduce the effectiveness? i usually take the pills at 9pm but on that day i took it around 2pm?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

In any given month of oral bcp use, if the time is changed, begin on the first day of the active pills and maintain punctual use at that chosen time throughout that month. Remember that during the placebo week, there is no hormone provided, so changing the time of the active pill ingestion will not diminish the effectiveness, but may cause some breakthrough bleeding on occasion.
