Breastfeeding, especially after 6 months postpartum is not an effective method of contraception. There is no way to know if this was a miscarriage unless you tested for pregnancy or hCG. As your child gets older and drinks less breastmilk, your hormones will begin to return to normal and may lead to irregular periods. Use an effective alternative form of birth control.
