A member asked:

What is the success rate of chemotherapy against prostate cancer ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Prostate cancer is one that relies on hormones to grow. Thus treatments, other than surgery, radiation, radiation by seed implanting, rely on interfering with male hormones, either their production or their actions. When these are ineffective in advanced prostate cancer, actual chemotherapy is used to prevent cancer cells from dividing. These have more side effects. Not cures, but extend life.
