Shampoo and cysts: Shampoos cannot cause cysts. Cysts can be caused by trauma or heredity but most of the time we don't know what causes them. Most of the time scalp cysts are pilar cysts, that form from the outer root sheath of the hair follicle, much deeper than any shampoo can reach.
