A member asked:

Is it possible to acquired rabies virus in dogs barking and it happens to entered my mouth?and if does, i got already my shot a month ago, do i still need to get another shot?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Rabies is acquired usually from the bite of a rabid animal or from animal saliva getting on a minor cut or scratch. There are very very rare reports of transmission to people who were in the vicinity of a rabid animal but never physically touched. So, possibly yes. Given near 100% fatality rate of infection, I’d urge you get full series, regardless how low the theoretical risk
