A member asked:

Can a dermatologist use a close up photo of a mole to determine whether its normal or potentially worrisome? my dermatologist used this method and determined that my mole is benign. should i get it reexamined or am i just overthinking?

I expect that will depend on the quality of the photo and the experience of the dermatologist. During a direct office exam they decide to test or not based on what they see every day.

You may watch and wait. If the mole doubles in size, becomes irregular in size, shape or color, bleeds, ulcerates or develops a nodule, see a doctor. Wish you good health!
