There are some basic approaches to weight gain. If you consume more calories than your body needs/uses/day you will gain weight. To gain muscle mass rather than fat, you need to do muscle stimulating exercise like resistance bands/free weights/machines. Cardio training is needed for good basic health, but does not generally add muscles.
