Before starting bc, my cycle was 32 days. i've been using lo loestrin fe for 4 months and haven't had a period (can't be pregnant, haven't been sexually active). does the lack of a period mean lo loestrin might be less effective as a contraceptive?

No, it means the opposite, that it's being a good birth control agent. You can only have a true period if you ovulate, so no period means you are not ovulating. While not having a period is less common with "lo" dose pills, it certainly can happen.
