A member asked:

Are there any legitimate pain management doctors left that still want to advocate for legitimate pain patients?

Specializes in Pain Management

Pain management : Terms such as "pain advocacy" & legitimate pain patients" were coined by self-interested pharmaceutical companies or by the grassroots organization they sponsored. When all else has failed, the patient in pain, his or her treating physician (e.g. Orthopedic or spine surgeon, oncologist) & a pain management doctor should work together to tailor a "legitimate" long term treatment plan.

Yes: I do pain management and i believe in coordinated care by the primary physician, psychiatrist, surgeons, and myself. Chronic pain crosses many specialties and there can be many components that make it worse or better.
