Depends...: The correct treatment for a cough depends on its cause. Possible etiologies for cough include infection like acute bronchitis or pneumonia, bronchospasm from any etiology like asthma, copd, gerd, sinus problem, etc. Since all of these have different treatments, you need to see your doctor so the etiology for your cough can be diagnosed and then the cough can be treated. Smoking cessation is needed.
