Should i go to the doc for what seems to be chronic bronchitis. i cant stay off work every 40-60 days?

This sounds reasonable. You may have an underlying reactive airway disease that could benefit from daily maintenance medication that would help avoid symptomatic events.

A chest imaging study, sputum analysis and treatment options should be evaluated. Possible causes also include bronchiectasis, COPD and an immune defect. Ciliary defects often also present with sinus and ear infections. Cystic Fibrosis may present later in life, but less commonly.
