Absolutely: I'm assuming this is subacute granulomatous thyroiditis. Dequervain's thyroiditis is quite common in young fokls and generally gets missed. One of my teammates got it in residency; we biopsied it for interest; it was a good time. It's annoying but seldom dangerous; if you become briefly hyperthyroid or hypothyroid, your physician can handle it. Aspirin may help with the discomfort.

Rare, but i suppose: Possible. It is tenosynovitis at wrist usually caused by overuse. Symptoms are pain on movement and local tenderness.
