Usually soap in the ear canal will not result in any infection. If the water is not clean and there is immersion in unclean water, there is a risk of an outer ear canal infection. The symptoms include outer ear pain and drainage. A little bit of soapy clean water in the canal usually does not cause symptoms. Discuss how to dry the ear canal by patting dry with a towel with your PCP. d
