Im having a colonoscopy next week and im a little nervous. today i passed a stool that appeared to have black specks when i smashed the stool with toilet paper (so the specks were inside). is this blood?

Doubtful. Blood in the stool has a characteristic smell and generally results in a tar like consistency. That being said if you had a high GI bleed, the blood would be black by the time it exited while blood nearer the anus, like a hemorrhoid, would be red. The colonoscopy will address this issue for certain and determine if you do have any GI conditions of concern. Good luck
