A member asked:

Hi! i had a baby on 12 june 2020 via c-section. i was given some anti-inflammatory injections in my right thigh near the hip. there is a large bruise that has not gone away in all this time and is sensitive when i prod it, is this normal?thanks

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No, it's not normal, but it can be explained. Likely the shot caused some fat necrosis (dying) in the area and left some scarring in the tissue and discoloration of the skin that chronically looks like a bruise. These areas can be very tender when you push on them. You may talk to a pain specialist if it's really uncomfortable, otherwise just leave it alone knowing it will likely never go away...
