Progesterone only contraceptive (found in pills, depo shot, implant and IUD) are the best option for women who would like to minimize their periods. There is a transition time that can last up to 6 months where your body is resetting it's hormones and you may have spotting. Other than that, progesterone has few or no side effects when compared to estrogen.
