Could be irritation from the differin. Would suggest that you apply the differin after washing your face an hour before bedtime and then wash off the differin before going to sleep. This is called short contact therapy and might reduce the irritation . If that doesn't seem to help, you should see your dermatologist for confirmation of this problem and possibly another treatment.
