The bigger issue is how can be better handle stress. Stress may not be under ones control but our perception of it can be. I recommend people try magnesium lactate before bedtime when it is safe. See your primary care doctor

Identify stress first and try to resolve it. Mean time, deep breathing exercise, taking warm shower before going to bed, avoid caffeine late in the evening might help. Do not use alcohol at bed time. If nothing helps, small dosage of Trazodone may help. Avoid use of Benzos.

Since "stress" seems to be the problem, why not tackle it as follows: stress management program including possible ongoing meditation, cognitive-behavioral therapy, biofeedback treatments, even acupuncture. Sleep hygiene and exercise programs could also provide benefit.
