Common: A painful vagina late in pregnancy is very common. The increased pressure of the greatly enlarged uterus can cause vasodilation and engorgement of the vulva, vaginal canal and perineum. At this same time, your pelvic bones are relaxing and the ligaments stretching to prepare for labor. This can cause lightening pains. Talk to your OB about methods to decrease the pressure and pain.
