My period has become more irregular my last 1 ive been getting sharp pain around left ovary or there abouts.my period was much heavier too as they are normally a lot lighter. im47.not sexually active.what can cause this? some months i get2periods?

Peri-menopause ?: At age 47, menses may be irregular secondary to delayed ovulation. Constant production of ovarian estrogen can cause thickening of the uterine lining, which can degenerate, causing bleeding which can be light or heavy. Ask your gyn physician about low dose oral bcp's, to stop ovarian production of hormones, allowing diminished symptoms until true menopause is reached.
