C-SECTIONS: The skin incision is the only difference. Once the skin and fascial layer are incised, and the bladder is separated from the lower uterus, there is no other difference. Most elective C-Sections rely on a transverse skin incision which is more invisible and allows for the wearing of a bikini. Vertical incision is preferred for emergency C-Sections, where time is important. The OB determines care.
