Discuss: Have a discussion with your pediatrician or general practitioner. There are alternatives, goals, benefits and risks should be clearly delineated. All meds are intended to bring some benefit with minimal to no side effects. When side effects become intolerable, alternative treatments are being considered.

Alternative: Dr P. has already provided a sensible approach, but you might succeed with another. Migraines may get under control via use of OTC items, and consider taking riboflavin, butterbur, feverfew, magnesium, or CoQ-10. This would allow continuation of BCP with relatively safe prevention of migraine. Discuss this with your doctor.
