Depending on the specific type and case of prostatitis, maybe your doctor will arrange for lab tests, especially urinalysis and culture; or sometimes ultrasound or other methods to image the prostate. All that said, true prostatitis is rare at your age. Are you sure you don't have nongonococcal urethritis (NGU)?
