Ive been having a lot of back pain, mostly in my lower back and its a pain that freezes me up for a bit, especially when bending backwards. ive tried using biofreeze, salonpas, hot baths with salts, nothing stuck. what should i try in the meantime?

Try Stretching.: Simple stretching is a good way to begin. I would hold the positions for at least 1 minute. Your PCP can probably provide lyou with muscle relaxant. You could use acetaminophen for discomfort.

Some approaches: Agree with Dr. Bodell, stretching can help, especially if you have tight hamstrings. An active physical therapy program would allow more efficient mobilization, and massage and/or acupuncture may be facilitating tools. Osteopathic manipulation might also break up the pain patterns.
