Early LV Dysfunction: Heart pumps the blood to lungs and receives oxygenated blood to pump to whole body. For pumping, left ventricle contracts, it can be affected by weakening of cardiac muscles or reduced outflow area, aortic valve problems. Symptoms are shortness of breath on exertion, early fatigue, ankle swelling, palpitations. Further impairment can be prevented by early diagnosis and taking care of the cause.

Decreased output: The heart’s function is to pump adequate blood for the body to function whether in sleep (inactive) or running (very active). If the body needs are not met, impaired heart function, severe anemia, or inadequate oxygenation is often the cause. Cardiac output is heart rate (beats per minute) times stroke volume (how much blood pumped each squeeze). Decreases in rate or output can affect function.
