Current diet: Your digestive changes are related to what you eat now. Any massive dietary changes should be slow and keeping a balance between types of food. Keeping a food log and changing your eating habits will be needed in order to make meaningful, long lasting recommendations.

Fiber and water: You may take a fiber laxative like Metamucil and drink enough water daily so that your urine is colorless. For the long term you may try to increase your intake of fiber foods.
