Your choice : The more common worrisome effect would be a chemical burn of the surface tissues of the eye, including the clear part (cornea). These tissues are quite sensitive. Copious washing with water may have removed the material before it could do harm. If you still have stinging/pain in the eye it would be time to contact your doc & proceed as they advise.
