A member asked:

I got a ct scan for appendicitis a few months ago and was wondering if that would have detected colorectal cancer?

Maybe/not: These are exams that focus on the issue at hand but a review of the films would notice anything of size out of the ordinary. However, that study is not the preferred one for detecting such issues which can be small & be lost within the other tissues of similar density. If you have concerns about this form of cancer discuss it with your doc & see if a different study is even worth doing.
