Hi , my 4 year old sone has a very sore ear ( been swimming a lot ) been giving nerophen and colpol , with cilodex ear drops 3 x a day . but still in a lot of pain . does he need antibiotics ?

Maybe not: Sometimes the swelling & debris accumulation in the ear canal prevents the antibiotics you already have (drops) from getting in. Occasionally a doc will need to gently suction the debris clear with special tools. They then can insert a wick that draws the abx past any blockage. Oral abx rarely help when the eardrum is intact.
