A member asked:

I'm 17 and i got my period on the 10th of this month, about 10 days earlier than usual. it also seems a little bit heavier than usual, with some clumps of blood on the first day, and on the 13th my period was over, should i be concerned?

Normal variation: Menstrual cycles can fluctuate from month to month depending on hormone fluctuation caused by stress, weight loss/gain, exercise, and lack of sleep. This is especially true in teens. It is not usually a concern if this happens once or twice. If your cycles cause increased bleeding or you stop bleeding you may want to talk to you Dr about the situation and have a thorough exam and lab tests.
