I am 21 years old, average built. when i sleep, my heart rate goes below 40 bpm. do i need to be worried? and get checked out?

Low pulse: In someone your age this can sometimes occur, especially when sleeping. If you don't have any cardiac type symptoms, I wouldn't worry about it. You might consider getting a TSH test to rule out hypothyroidism.

I am concerned by the phrase”below 40 bpm. I would strongly advise that this be confirmed by monitoring of the rhythm during sleep. Hypothyroidism usually slows the heart rhythm while asleep or awake.
