I forgot i had a tampon in because i didn't see the string until i went to use the bathroom and noticed it. it's been there at least a week and it was super absorbent. is there anything i should be concerned about with it being in for so long?

Retained tampon: A retained tampon can be a source of significant infection since it holds on to the bacteria in the vagina. A retained tampon is usually associated with discharge and odor which is a sign of infection. I always recommend that Patients get checked for infection if the tampon has been in for more than a few days.
