MEDICATION: Yes. It's important to find the correct combination of medications with your Psychiatrist and discuss concerns about meds worsening your condition. Medications aren't sufficient since they don't teach you coping mechanisms. Psychotherapy with a Clinical Psychologist can help you find ways to handle stress that will help medications work better.

Concerns: It is indeed appropriate to have concerns whether new medications can be effective or cause adverse events. You would best be informed by having a conference with your physician to clarify and answer all your questions. Compose a list and perhaps have a family member or friend accompany you. If not done yet, a psychiatric or psychological consultation may help.
