Before X-ray : A focused exam and detailed history will be needed. Best to start with would be your GP, who can further coordinate based on findings on exam. Tests and/or referrals will be used if necessary.

Need to examine: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. What you described suggests carpal tunnel syndrome and it is treatable. It would be prudent to see a doctor. Wish you good health!
