A member asked:

Can i take the contraceptive pill (progestin only), while taking pylera antibiotics (for the infections of helicobacter pylori) ? i know the pill could be less effective, but can it interfiere with the antibiotic and cause me any harm?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No harm: The antibiotic will not be less effective because of the pill. While the antibiotic can potentially decrease the effectiveness of the pill this is not a large effect and protection is usually maintained, but backup contraception is still wise. The more common practical side effect is breakthrough bleeding.
