Dog bite: Capnocytophaga are bacteria that are common in the mouths of Dogs. When a person is bitten by a dog, that bacteria can be introduced into the human blood stream and cause an infection. Any dog bite requires prophylactic antibiotics since each person responds to infectious bacteria differently. In some it may cause septicemia and death, in others just a localized infection.
