COVID 19: If the patient has extreme shortness of breath, s/he should be promptly evaluated at an emergency room. Get emergency care for difficulty breathing, blue lips or face, significant & persistent chest pain or new-onset of confusion.

Covid: Codeine is every effective in quieting a harsh, nonproductive persistent cough, but when a Covid patient has extreme shortness of breath, prompt evaluation of oxygenation status and lung findings are important as Covid lung involvement requires immediate treatment to prevent progression and need for ventilator treatment. Call your MD for instructions or proceed to the emergency room.
