A member asked:

My daughter has periodic ear ache but only when she swallows. this does not happen all the time though - its a sharp pain situated behind the bottom of the ear. what can she do for the next few days to alleviate the pain until we can to a dr on wed?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Eustachian tube dysf: Sounds like she's having some Eustachian tube dysfunction, as symptoms worsen with swallowing. She can try popping her ears, chewing gum, yawning. A decongestant may be useful - it's worth a try. Make sure to keep appointment later this week.
