I've been on a beta blocker for about a month now. my bp tonight was 101/70 and pulse was 59. is that too low? i've also had chest pain for a few days. i had a chest x-ray two days ago and everything was good. i'm just worried. thank you in advance?

Chest pain,low BP: Are you taking beta blocker for high BP or cardiac arrhythmia? Goal for BP treatment is 130/80 or lower. 101/70 is ok as long as you're not lightheaded or weak and your heart rate is not under 55 at rest. Have you had an EKG or enzyme testing for heart evaluation? If chest pain persists I recommend proceeding to the ER for prompt evaluation and testing.

Please get evaluated: Beta blockers are known to produce slowing of heart rate and reduction of the blood pressure. A reduction in the dose MAY help solve the problem. This has to be done under supervision of your doctor who can make appropriate decision. It is very important to see your doctor without delay to prevent worsening of the situation.
