Dietary changes: Give child a daily probiotic. Diet should be high in protein and complex carbohydrates. You should avoid simple sugar foods (jello, juices,candy, etc). Also avoid roughage (cabbage, broccoli, lettuce, etc). Avoid products containing lactose - drink lactose free milk or give low sugar almond milk. Stick to diet and gut function should improve in 4-5 days, diarrhea should resolve in about 1 week.
