"8 weeks pregnant": Spotting at "8 weeks" of pregnancy may occur secondary to inadequate progesterone production from the placenta. See your OB physician or call, and he/she may prescribe oral progesterone for a few weeks. A phone call should be enough to have your physician prescribe medication, and he/she may also want a pelvic ultrasound.

Past due: Hopefully you saw your doctor and all is well. Just to be complete, spotting is not uncommon in early pregnancy. If you get cramps or fresh blood, it would be prudent to see a doctor. Wish you good health and a healthy baby!
