TMJ: TMJ involves inflammation of the joint and occasionally cracking of molars or teeth. To help reduce inflammation, use an ice pack for 20 minutes on and 10 minutes off. You can also take Ibuprofen or Naproxen as directed.

Use anything : I would suggest you seek a TMJ specialist. You could have a bite that is out of line or you put too much pressure on one side of jaw when you sleep or you could have a jaw injury from a blow to the area that's why heat doesn't work.
