Thrush : In a child of this age it is important to be clean and dry all bottles and nipples that may come in contact with the child's mouth. The same is true if mother is breastfeeding. A prescription for nystatin would be helpful from your pediatrician to apply to the child's mouth area where the white patches are located for approximately 5-7 days. If this is unsuccessful a follow visit is needed.

Yeast possible: Yeast sounds like a very possible culprit. This is a very common infection for infants. You would need oral liquid solution to treat the baby. I have breastfeeding moms use the same liquid on nipples and areola after nursing to clear up anything on mom's skin that could reinfect infant. Some doctors will just call in the prescription if baby is current with all visits; some demand infant be seen.
