Start exercise know: The stronger your muscles before the surgery and more flexible you are, the better the result, the rehab period will be shorten.

Quad strengthening: Suggest working in quadriceps strengthening and maintaining your knee motion. You likely will not tolerate aggressive therapy.

Now: It is best to exercise before surgery. It will quicken your recovery. The best exercises for tka are quadriceps strengthening with straight leg raising with or without weights on the ankle. Do these 2 or 3 times a day for the weeks before surgery.
