Correct feeding.: Make sure you are mixing the formula correctly ( Concentrated formulas are mixed 1:1 with water. Ready-to-feed formulas do not need any added water. Powdered formulas are mixed 2 ounces (60 mL) of water per each level scoop of powder). He should be drinking 60-120 ml every 1-2 hours at age 13 days. Dehydration is the most common cause for constipation.

Takes time...: If he was dehydrated, and now you have switched to formula to make sure his intake is adequate, it takes 5-7 days for his stools to "catch up" and soften as well. If he had been having poor intake from inadequate nursing, then he wouldn't have made much stool. Once finally getting enough AND rehydrated, then the stools normalizing will follow.Everything does not happen instantaneously, be patient
