Edema: It is normal to get edema in your ankles and feet after pelvic or hip surgery. You were resting and not very active for the last 2 months since your surgery. Ask your surgeon if he/she can refer you to a physical therapist to help you gait train, to get some exercise to help your circulation. Maybe you can start pool exercises. Cut down on your salt intake. Keep your feet elevated while sitting.

Foot edema : Edema in foot and ankle following hip surgery can be normal and it can be abnormal. Lengh of time since surgery needs to be taken into account. How immobile you were and for how long. Edema can be caused from inactivity, infection, inflammation, dvt, or it may not be at all related to the hip surgery. You need to call this matter to the attention of your surgeon sooner rather than later.
